LAVANGSNES WUNDERKAMMER SKULPTURPARK
We show contemporary art in dialogue with the cultural landscape. The park stretches from the spring stones up to a bog at 300m above sea level. The area is approx. 105 goals. The sculpture park is growing, it is continuously being expanded with new works. We start down by the sea and work our way up towards the mountain. The landscape is overgrown and must be made accessible step by step. In 2018, the first sculpture was set up. A bronze sculpture by the German artist Simon Mann. "Still-leben" - or as it will eventually be called - "German picnic". The work is a casting of a plastic bag, filled with sausage, beer and potato salad. It was placed on a rock under willow trees, which bend and make a natural roof. A perfect place to rest and have a picnic. The way this sculpture is placed is quite descriptive of how we present art here at Lavangsnes. It becomes part of the surroundings and catches the viewer's eye by telling a story - oh, someone forgot a plastic bag of food down here. Here on the website you can also see videos that have been made in connection with, for example, the temporary works of art that can no longer be viewed in the sculpture park or works that are difficult to see on site because they are underwater.

THE SCULPTURES
Sculptures are installed in the landscape so that they often find a subtle place between trees, rocks and bushes. From spring 2021, it is the sheep who work with landscape care in the park.
